Sojourner Truth was an African American evangelist, abolitionist, women’s rights activist and author who was born into enslavement before escaping to freedom in 1826, then used her experiences to help fight on behalf of African Americans and women until the end of her life. Her words of hope and resilience ring true and serve as inspiration for any time.
