Clover Small Double Wire Diamond Hoop Earrings
Clover Small Double Hoops with .16 ct tw white diamonds on hinged posts in 18 K gold and oxidized cobalt chrome.
For my Clover Collection, I started with a custom made draw plate with a shape reminiscent of a four leaf clover. After pulling the wire, I then add random twists which add an organic touch to an otherwise refined chain. I finish the sequence with another broad twist, bringing volume and dimension to the final piece.
What is the black?
That's oxidized cobalt chrome. Cobalt Chrome used primarily in the medical and dental industry, and is valued for it's durability. It also happens to be hypo-allergenic and stainless, which is important to me, too! I oxidize the cobalt chrome to achieve a deep black color that is so striking against gold and diamonds!
Will the black wear off?
I oxidize my cobalt chrome, which gives it that deep, matte black finish. No oxidation is permanent, however oxidized cobalt chrome holds it's color better than oxidized silver, and will only wear off with direct contact. This means your rings and bracelets will show more wear than your earrings and necklaces (unless you carry them around in your change purse - please don't carry them around in your change purse!)
I create each piece with unique textures, and you can look forward to those becoming more apparent over time as the black comes off the raised surfaces and stays put in the crevices.
