These pieces created with sculpted wood start with hardwood lumber. They are cut and then sculpted with a power rasp. The wood is sanded until a very smooth surface is achieved and the wood's hidden beauty is revealed. The clay is then formed to complement the wood. As the clay dries, the clay and wood are separated so that it can be fired. After the clay is fired, the wood is permanently attached with a lifetime adhesive.

This sculptural ceramic vessel is inspired by the first blush of spring in the vegetable garden.  Walnut wood is incorporated into the ceramic form.
